The Pacific Rim Championships, a premier international gymnastics event, took place this year in the city of Cali, Colombia. Known for its rich culture and passionate sports fans, Cali set the perfect stage for a thrilling display of artistic gymnastics.

Athletes from the Pacific regions, including the United States, Canada, China, Japan and Australia, came together to perform impressive gymnastics routines. Among them was our very own Lucas Engesser.

Representing Australia, Lucas made his Senior International debut, making him the first representative from Sydney Hills Gymnastics to compete at a Senior event.

Before leaving, Lucas talked about his preparation. He worked hard to improve his routines for the Senior level, focusing on perfecting his dismounts for rings and parallel bars and improving his high-bar releases. His hard work and commitment showed during the competition.

The first day of competition was nothing short of remarkable for Lucas. He performed with precision and confidence, finishing in 7th place All-Around. This result alone was impressive, but his achievements did not stop there. His outstanding routines earned Lucas spots in three apparatus finals for floor, pommel horse and vault.

In the finals, Lucas’s routines inspired the next generation of Men’s Artistic Gymnasts at Sydney Hills Gymnastics. It was truly remarkable to see him compete in three apparatus finals during his first senior competition!
