At Sydney Hills Gymnastics, our indoor Playgroup gives little ones aged 6 months to 5 years room to move, equipment to discover and the freedom to play in a fully equipped gymnastics centre.
It’s a chance for children to explore, try new things and play alongside others, while parents, grandparents and caregivers enjoy a change of scenery and connect with local families in the Hills District.

Room to explore, climb and discover
At Sydney Hills Gymnastics, children can explore our gymnastics centre, with space to move and a variety of gymnastics equipment and sensory toys to discover.
They might crawl through an obstacle course, practise balancing, swing on the rings, bounce on the trampoline, explore the foam pit or try something new. Others may prefer to watch another child first before trying it themselves.
Playgroup is a relaxed, play-based session led by our coaches, with plenty of time for free play, movement and discovery. It’s all about having fun and exploring at their own pace.
They’re playing. They’re learning, too.
Play might look like pure fun, but crawling, climbing and balancing also give children opportunities to develop coordination, balance, body awareness and gross motor skills.
Building confidence
Some children jump straight into something new. Others prefer to watch first and try when they’re ready. Every little discovery is a chance to try something different and learn what they can do.
Learning through play
How do I get over that obstacle? Where should I put my foot? Can I try another way? Play encourages children to explore, experiment and solve little problems along the way.
Making connections
Playing alongside other children gives little ones opportunities to interact, practise taking turns and begin building friendships.
Sometimes that means sharing a laugh or following another toddler around the gym. Other times, it’s simply playing side by side.
A little time for parents, too
Life with little ones can be wonderful, exhausting, hilarious and unpredictable, sometimes all before morning tea!
Playgroup gives parents and caregivers a reason to get out of the house, chat with other adults and see familiar faces. You might arrive knowing nobody and leave with someone to say hello to next time.
It’s a chance for children to play and explore while the grown-ups enjoy a little social time, too.

Is Playgroup suitable for babies who are not walking yet?
Yes. Children can attend from 6 months and explore at their own pace, whether they’re crawling, pulling themselves up to stand and cruising along equipment, or discovering sensory toys, with a parent or caregiver by their side.
